B.A.M. Spring 2018
With our partners at FRIENDS of the Environment, we would like to congratulate the students in our 2017-2018 Bahamas Awareness of Mangroves (B.A.M.) program for completing yet another successful year of the program. Our year 1 students from Forest Heights Academy had lots of fun returning to the mangroves to plant the propagules (seedlings) that they have been growing for the past 8 months in their classroom. They did a wonderful job taking care of them because wow did they grow tall! Next year, these students will enter the B.A.M. year 2 program, where they will begin monitoring the mangrove ecosystem. Our year 2 students from Forest Heights Academy and Patrick J. Bethel High School went on their final field trip to the mangroves to monitor the living and non-living things in their quadrats. We would like to congratulate these students on completing the two-year B.A.M. program. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and we hope that you will continue to be advocates for the mangrove ecosystem!
