Bio

Ameer is senior specialist and group leader of the Marine Biodiversity and Conservation Science Group in the IUCN Global Marine Programme. Ameer is a marine ecologist by training and holds a PhD in Coral Reef Ecology and a MSc in Marine Impact Monitoring and Assessment from James Cook University, Australia. He has over ten years of experience in tropical marine ecology and conservation in the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Arabian Gulf, Great Barrier Reef, Mediterranean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico. He is currently particularly interested in understanding the impacts of Climate Change on coral reefs and defining indicators for ecological resilience. Ameer is the author of a number of scientific papers and technical reports that address marine ecology, conservation, species, and impact assessment.
