Bio
Anna has a Bachelors of Science in Zoology and Botany from The University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, and a Masters of Science in Natural Resource Management (Coastal and Marine Resource Management) from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. She also has PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification and has been diving for the past nine years both recreationally and for scientific work. Anna has been with the Fisheries Division, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries since 2009. Her research at this time is primarily focused on the Caribbean Spiny Lobster and, in particular, the development and effectiveness of artificial juvenile lobster shelters otherwise known as Lobster Condominiums in enhancing Lobster populations. She has a special in artificial reefs which she hopes will help assist in improving our fish stocks in Fish Sanctuaries, and by extension, overall fish population in adjacent areas. Within the last year, Anna has been involved in the deployment and monitoring of two such artificial reefs (Eco Reefs) on the North and South Coasts of Jamaica. In 2011, she also participated as a scientific diver in Jamaica’s Queen Conch Stock Assessment on the Pedro Bank.
