Joana Oliveira

Bio
Joana spent her childhood around nature, living very close to the beach in Portugal. During this time, she grew a strong passion for the ocean and its wondrous biodiversity.
In 2017, Joana enrolled at the University of Lisbon to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Throughout this time, she developed a strong interest in conservation and sustainability. Since then, she volunteered in several research and conservation projects and became a scuba diver. Currently, she is a master's student studying marine living resources through the University of Ghent. For her internship, Joana is helping the Living Oceans Foundation create ArcGIS StoryMaps to showcase maps and geo-referenced data collected on the Global Reef Expedition.
