Inspired by her experiences growing up in Japan, Norway and England, Kit Van Wagner has been steadily working her way around the globe while sharing her enthusiasm for wild places and remote cultures as she goes.
After attending college in Middlebury, Vermont and while earning a masters degree from Florida Institute of Technology, Kit made a living as a marine science educator, scuba instructor, captain, backcountry kayak guide and sailing instructor. Attempting to settle down, Kit worked for over a decade directing science education programs and creating meaningful outdoor experiences for her audiences. Most recently she worked with the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) developing initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of estuaries, water quality, and coastal climate change impacts.
Over the years, Kit has also enjoyed working as a naturalist and Zodiac driver on small expedition ships in the South Pacific, New Zealand, Alaska, Central America, Mexico, and in the Caribbean. And now, with the sea beckoning, Kit is giving up the world of offices and conference calls for full-time pursuits in marine conservation and expedition travel. Her aim is to earn a PhD in coastal sustainability studies. Onboard, she looks forward to sharing her good humor and infatuation with life in the world’s oceans.
