Bio

Omar is the General Director of the Research and Field Studies Department of NCWCD. He received his B. Sc in Marine Biology in 1978 from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. From 1979 to 1989 he worked with the King Faisal University in Al-Hasa in the Marine Biology Department. In February 1989 he moved to NCWCD, Riyadh, where he joined the Marine Research Department. During his career with the NCWCD he worked as the Manager of Wildlife Rescue and as a co-managing director for the EU/NCWCD project “Establishment of Marine Habitat and Wildlife Sanctuary” for the Gulf Region. He was also the manager of the JICA/NCWCD project of the study on coastal/marine habitat and biological inventories in the northern part of the Red Sea. During this Expedition he will coordinate and oversee research activities of the NCWCD scientists.
