Serge Andrefouet, PhD

Bio

Born in Paris in 1968, Dr. Andrefouet grew up in French Polynesia as a teenager. He is a computer engineer (1990, U. Nice-Sophia-Antipolis, France), who went back to the university (U. of French Polynesia) in 1995 for a PhD in remote sensing, applied to coral reefs (1998). After 5 years based at the University of South Florida, he got a permanent government research position at IRD in 2003. He is currently assigned in New Caledonia, but enjoys working throughout the world. Since 1990, he has always had scientific activities in French Polynesia. Since 2003, he has focused on applied research for management and conservation, trying to fully use the potential of spatial data.
