The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation has released their findings from the largest coral reef survey and mapping expedition ever conducted in French Polynesia. The Global Reef Expedition: French Polynesia Final Report provides a comprehensive summary of the research findings from the expedition, an assessment of the health and resiliency of French Polynesia’s coral reefs, and recommendations for preserving French Polynesia’s coral reefs into the future.

These marine bioregions enable the design of ecologically representative national marine protected areas in Pacific nations.
The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation (KSLOF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the world’s oceans and aquatic resources. For two decades, the Foundation has used its three-pronged approach of science, education, and outreach to create lasting conservation for. some of the world’s most remote and vulnerable coral reef systems. Success in these three pillars of our work helped the Foundation become a global player in marine conservation.
The Atlas of the Amirantes contains high-resolution benthic habitat maps that were created from this research project for the purpose of aiding the Seychelles government in marine conservation efforts and management plans.

The Story Maps in this collection by Esri were chosen for the outstanding ways that they are informing, educating, and inspiring scientists, conservationists, decision-makers, and the general public, on a wide variety of ocean issues. They include two that feature our work with the iLCP in Palau and on the Great Barrier Reef.
