About The Golden Shadow’s Engines
How big is the engine? We have on board Shadow, two 9 cylinder diesel engines made by Deutz (if one breaks down you can always get home on the other one, unlike your car). It is a diesel engine and uses a lower grade diesel fuel than you would put in your diesel car, but it uses a LOT. They sit side by side in the bottom of the ship and drive two propellers through gearboxes. The propeller shown has just been polished.
